PCDSVC 2023 Sexual Violence Awareness Walk

While we understood postponing our sexual violence awareness walk was disappointing, our first priority is keeping every guest and staff safe. We thank you for understanding and being patient with us, as we have rescheduled our date to June 24th, 2023.

Did you know that every 68 seconds an American is sexually assaulted and every 9 minutes, that victim is a child? One in six women and one in ten men in the United States have been victims of an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime. In a 2019 study, it was reported that more than 1.8 million survivors of sexual violence were living in New Jersey alone. Sexual violence is any type of nonconsensual sexual interaction, ranging from unwanted sexual comments to sexual assault. Sexual violence can happen to anyone, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, ability, or sexual orientation.

Join other members of your community to walk in solidarity against sexual violence. The walk will be held at Garret Mountain Reservation in Woodland Park on Saturday, June 24th, beginning at 10am. Woodland Park Mayor Keith Kazmark, Mary Catherine Ryan, Assistant Chief Prosecutor, SVU, and Dr. Waffiyah Saleem, Founder of SHEMATTERS, will be there to help kick off the two-mile walk. Other community organizations and a DJ will round out this fun event for an important cause.
