Help create Social Justice
In all that we do, Social Justice is the thread.
Despite the fact that White (non Latinx) people make up 55% of New Jersey's population and African Americans only 15%, the following disparities exist:
* 1 in every 15 African American men and 1 in every 36 Hispanic men are incarcerated in comparison to 1 in every 106 white men. Just ask Terrell who is a recovering addict who just served eight years for a first offense, nonviolent drug distribution conviction in Newark. He was represented by a public defender.
* Poor African American and Latina women are more likely than anyone else to be victims of domestic violence. Just ask Kiara who grew up in public housing in Camden and has been around family violence her whole life. She was first victimized at age 10.
* African American individuals make up more than half of all known cases of HIV in NJ. Just ask Robert, who contracted HIV due to Intravenous Drug Use (IDU). He had no health insurance or easy access to substance abuse treatment.
